Soccer Season

August 5th, 2015 at 10:53 pm

So... soccer season has started... I can't believe it! F's first practice was Monday night, and she has practice tonight as well.

When she practices, I run around the old horse racing track (the fields are in the middle of what is now a derelict racetrack). It's flat, it's packed dirt, it's 1.1 miles - perfect! I have my running stuff ready to go.

F is feeling very anxious about me running, worried that something will happen to me. Yes, she is still seeing someone, and I think we're making progress. But I AM going to run tonight.

No game this weekend, which is good because I want to go to the pool and hang out and relax. Next week is soccer camp for F. Then school starts the middle of the week after that. And at the end of that week - first tournament!

So - a lot of soccer.

I'm pretty happy to get my running in while she practices; free fun! (If you can call it fun). My other exercising happens at lunch time.

How do you fit in your exercise? It's not easy with work and all of the other obligations we all have!

Good for you! It's tough to find time for exercise and so easy to find excuses.

I have an easier time finding opportunities during the summer. The winter is tough because I hate cold and I'm not into the snow sports.

Soccer started this week, too. My son is U13 and they had three practices this week AND another one on Friday. He's moved up a notch, but unfortunately this coach is bad. The board has had to talk to him about his non-helpful comments, but I guess there has been no major improvement in his coaching demeanor. I am not thrilled with this guy - and anticipate a long, long season. Too bad because my son so loves to play.

I hope F. has a good coach and is able to manage her anxiety. Smile Have a good run!

The last few weeks ... I haven't fit it in at all. Frown
Before that though, when I was getting into a regular routine, I just made sure to go to the gym as soon as I got home and changed - not allowed to sit down at all (other than to put shoes on.) That seemed to work fairly well. (Probably would work better if I went straight to the gym - have a locker lock now, so might try that on Friday.)

Running around the soccer field sounds like a great way to get in some exercise!

My exercise is falling to the wayside, too. When I walked to the station every day, it was enforced exercise. Now I have to make plans to do it. When life gets hectic, I forget.

    Good plan on your part.

I try to exercise before I go to work. Not always successful, but I figure any exercise is better than no exercise.
