Cleaning/Decluttering Calendar

January 27th, 2014 at 11:24 pm

On the Cleaning Calendar for this week: purge medicine cabinets, clean paper stack.

Haven't tackled the paper stack yet (but it doesn't look toooo bad). Later in the week.

But I just did the medicine cabinet. D had four expired medications in there! And there was some Lactaid. It doesn't matter how much Lactaid I eat, cow dairy still doesn't agree. So I put that near D's sink to see if he wants it. And we had some ten-year-old hippy sinus drops; in the trash. There was nothing weird or old in F's medicine cabinet.

On the monthly list are: take magazines to the library and wipe the tile in F's shower. Both easy tasks. Will probably do F's tile tonight since it's bath night.

The other thing we do at the beginning of the month is pay tuition. And because it's February, we also pay our deposit for next year. I have money in our Tuition account, so it's not a big deal; it's just scary watching it plummet so much in one month.

I need to find out if we got any tuition assistance and, if so, how much. Will report back.

Good idea on cleaning out the medicine cabinets! It always amazes me how much expired stuff we have even when I think I am on top of it.

It is a good idea to check medicines once or twice a year. I went through a pile of papers today...feels good to have that done.

I love the idea of a cleaning calendar. Did you create it all yourself or did you start from a template/book or something? It seems daunting to start one from scratch...

The cleaning calendar is a great idea.

I love my cleaning calendar! I did it myself, but basically what I did was list everything that needs to be cleaned and decluttered, and decided how often it needed to happen. So some things are daily, others are weekly, some are four times a year, some are just once a year (like turning the mattress); most take less than 15 minutes. Some things are seasonal, some aren't. When something else comes up that I think I need to be doing, I just add it where it seems like it belongs. I am so happy to share it if anyone wants it as a template!

I, too, would like to see your calendar. I do those tasks no one seems to think of like cleaning behind the refrigerator, but I sure don't have a calendar. I think having your own is a good idea, as we all have different priorities and tolerances for dirt and clutter. Smile

Lactaid didn't work for me, either. Avoiding milk did.

Me, too, CB! No milk for me!

I've shared the calendar in a new post - My Cleaning Calendar. Let me know what you all think! (And it's ok if you think I'm crazy! It's my version of OCD - I have a system for everything).
