I am a 55-year-old architect, and I live in New Mexico with my husband D, daughter F and a sweet black dog. I used to track our toilet paper usage (and how often I buy dental floss, and our grocery bills and a lot of other things, too) and that is how we paid off our mortgage early. I still track every dollar and dime we spend.

FINANCIAL GOALS

- Retirement - $7000 for D and $7000 for me - AUTOMATED!

- College savings
$350/month already budgeted
total saved to date: $31,822.99

- Mortgage was ELIMINATED in 2017.

- Car Savings - continue putting in $150 per month (automatic withdrawal)

- Amount to 401K = 25% of my husband's gross salary
- Amount to SEP = 25% of my gross salary

Frugal Baby Gift

My friend is having a baby any day now - hope she holds off until Friday (which is when the baby shower is). This is an amazing woman who has five kids already (including triplet boys!) and she's NICE. Her daughter and F are in the same class.

Anyway, I bought her a little onesie and when I was given some free yarn by F's piano teacher last week I decided to knit this little cardigan, too.

Cost was just for the buttons...

I don't knit for everyone, but B is so wonderful! Her daughter is new to the school this year, and she's been such a great addition to the class (very kind and funny like her mother). We met them last summer when F and the daughter had camp together, and I hit it off with B immediately!

Thanks for all the kind words about my knitting, everyone! It's my form of meditation!
