A place for me to record my thoughts as I save time, live frugally and stay organized.
I am a 52-year-old architect, and I live in New Mexico with my husband D, daughter F, a big white dog and a big white cat. I used to track our toilet paper usage (and how often I buy dental floss, and our grocery bills and a lot of other things, too) and that is how we paid off our mortgage early. I still track every dollar and dime we spend.
- Retirement - increase from $800/month to our IRAs to $1000 per to reach the max. limits for Roths ($5500 for D and $6500 for me) - AUTOMATED!
- Mortgage was ELIMINATED in 2017.
Owed at the beginning of 2015: $64,601
Owed at the beginning of 2016: $43,109
Owed at the beginning of 2017: $18,029
- Car Savings - continue putting in $150 per month (automatic withdrawal)
- Save additional $500 per month for F's school - so that we can eventually (for 10th grade?) pay in two installments rather than monthly (saving the expense charged by the monthly installment plan) - currently saving $230 extra because that's what the budget allowed, but hoping to do more.
