My List!

September 18th, 2016 at 01:52 am

I have LOVED reading everyone's 20 things... I am not sure there are 20 interesting facts about me... But I will give it a try!

1. My daughter and I are currently doing mother-daughter aerials (trapeze and silks) together!
2. Everywhere I've ever lived is jam-packed with tourists! (Los Angeles, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Santa Fe NM and Dublin Ireland)
3. My 11-year-old daughter is just about my height and wears the same shoe size (I am short).
4. I would prefer to only wear pajamas.
5. My birthday is Halloween (I will be 50 this year!)
6. I have big, wavy, static-filled, crazy-person hair like early Hermione Granger. But only 6 grey hairs so far!
7. I have designed about 12 fire stations.
8. I have an uncontrollable potty mouth, particularly while driving.
9. I hate shopping.
10. I tend to wear my clothes until they shred (see #9)
11. My daughter and I play a game called "Would I Drive that to School" and I would not be embarrassed to drive pretty much anything.
12. I draw a cartoon for my daughter's lunch every day.
13. I can't carry a tune. At all. But I sing often!
14. I wore a uniform in high school and LOVED it (see #9 again)
15. I love animals; we have a dog, cat and bird, but I'd love a goat and chickens and a rat...
16. I don't like soda. Yuck.
17. I love cutting the dog hair off of the vacuum roller. So satisfying!

OK, I got to 17... that's enough, right?

What a neat thing you do for your daughter! Does she keep them somewhere? Maybe make a book out of them someday ... Smile

  2. Buendia Says:

Thank you! Earlier this year she told me it was ok if I stopped drawing them, but her friends insisted I continue. They said "We all love them, too!" My husband saves them... so we have them, but I love the idea of a book. I love that they come home with food splatters! One was soaked in strawberry juice and is now all pink!

I hope me and Sophie do something cool together one day! You're the same age as my auntie.

    We share 16.

I have curly hair too, which is so not fun in the humid southeast!

    That's very interesting!

#2 How did you end up in Ireland, and what was that like?

#4 Haha I am with you there.

#7 You have got to tell me more about this please. Do you mean like being an architect and designing them? How did you end up doing this?

  9. Buendia Says:

VS_ozgirl: isn't it gross? I'll take a real lemonade any day... I just drink water because most other drinks make me gag.
Credit Card Free: I live in a super dry climate! My hair is so easily managed here compared to anywhere I've ever lived.
which leads me to Tabs' comment..

Ireland - was amazing! My husband is from the UK but when I met him he'd been living in Dublin for 10 years. I visited for a year, and then moved over and we got married. I loved it (except my hair and the dark winter nights). I loved not having a car and walking everywhere. I loved the people who are smart and funny. I miss our friends there, but I love our friends here.

Fire Stations - I am an architect and about 12 years ago I saw a solicitation for proposals to design a fire station. Didn't think I'd get it since I'd never designed a fire station before that (I'd done mostly schools and other public buildings). My projector broke during the presentation, I was young to have my own firm. It was a disaster. I even lost my sunglasses at the interview somehow. And then I got the job! The Fire Chief of our city who I've worked with a lot since then said he knew he wanted to work with me because when everything was going wrong I just said "OK, new plan..." and moved on. I showed my powerpoint on my laptop screen. He says that he knew that I'd be able to handle anything that came up (huge compliment!!).

Wow, you and the daughter doing aerials. I'm impressed! And the fact you draw cartoons on your child's lunch is pretty amazing too.

I chuckled over the hair comment as well. You probably could have come up with three more tidbits...you are pretty interesting!
